BIRD DROPPING DAMAGES

Many times the acids in bird droppings will "cloud" or "etch" clear coats.  These photos  show another type of localized damage created by bird droppings.

These photos show the results of water being present in a localized area of a vehicles hood, high temperatures were present causing the clear coat to expand.  The acids entered the clear coat and attacked the resin system, which is the "binder" which holds the clear together.

The cracks created have penetrated through the clear and on down to the basecoat (color).  This condition cannot be corrected by buffing.  It requires refinishing of the hood by a body shop.
